This recipe is used to bake an American type scone. Please note the recipe is for a large batch of thirty to forty scones so if you wish to make a smaller batch, you will need to alter your ingredients accordingly.
You will need the following ingredients for your American Scones...
eggs x 2, 1/2 tea spoon of soda, 1/4 buttermilk,2 tablespoons of oil, 2 1/4 tablespoons of active dry yeast, a cup of warm water, eight cups of flour 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1.5 t of salt, 3 t baking powder.
Firstly soften the yeast in warm water, in a mixing bowl blend the buttermilk, eggs, yeast mix, oil with 4 cups flour. Add rest of flour, let rise, roll out onto floured surface, cut dough in desired size and fry in deep fat heated to medium, turning once, until brown.
Dough will keep for several days in refrigerator.
