Chocolate Chip Scone Recipe

Makes 10 scones
1 tablespoon Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 cups All-purpose flour (sifted)
3 tablespoons Unsalted melted butter
1/4 cup Sugar
3/4 cup chocolate chips
4 ounces chocolate -- roughly cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 1/4 cups of double cream
Preheat the oven to 425 deg. Sift together the baking powder, sifted flour, salt and the 1/4 cup sugar into a bowl and mix thoroughly. Add and mix in the chocolate chips. Pour in the cream and mix together well. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and sprinkle flour lightly on top. Knead the dough 8 times, Pat into a 9-inch round. Brush with the melted butter and then sprinkle with the 2-3 tablespoons sugar. Cut the dough into 10 round wedges and transfer each to an UNGREASED baking sheet. Bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
